ABOUT THE COMPANY: Te Hauora o Ngāti Rārua Limited (THoNR) was opened in the early 90s to provide mobile primary health and social services for Māori by Māori. Today, we are a Māori Health Provider representing a network of services and contracts to Māori in the greater Marlborough region in direct response to the local needs of Māori.

Ngāti Rārua Iwi Trust is the sole shareholder of THoNR and operates under the korowai of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua (TRoNR). Kia Pai te Noho 2020-2040 sets out the strategic goals of TRoNR.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Business Manager is responsible to the Board of Directors of Te Hauora o Ngāti Rārua Ltd and is responsible for all of the employees of THoNR.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • To operate in a way in which the mana of all is uplifted.
  • To actively seek new contracts for services that contribute towards the achievement of Kia Pai te Noho and financial sustainability of the Company
  • To manage THoNR resources to a high standard including attaining and maintaining accreditation standards.
  • To create and implement a strategy for THoNR that aligns with and supports the achievement of TRoNR strategic goals in collaboration with TRoNR leadership.
  • To implement an annual plan and budget after approval by the Board of Directors.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS & OUTCOMES Management

  • Ensures THoNR retains its strong tikanga Māori values.
  • Fulfilling the human resource requirements according to legislation and Rūnanga requirements.
  • Ensuring kaimahi receive appropriate cultural supervision.
  • Forecasts budgets against spend and delivers within financial means.
  • Implements operational processes to ensure the smooth running of THoNR. Contract Procurement
  • Is responsible for ensuring contractual deliverable within each contract are met.
  • Continually assesses opportunities to seek new funding sources and contracts in line with objectives of Ngāti Rārua – Kia pai te noho Quality Assurance
  • Ensures required accreditation is attained and maintained.
  • Ensures THoNR legal obligations and New Zealand legislative requirements are met. Relationship Management
  • Develop positive working relationships with Iwi, Marae, Māori Providers, Contracted Providers and Whānau. Best Practice
  • Ensures all organizational policies are aligned with Rūnanga and that kaimahi are aware of the policies and procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

  • A passion and understanding of tikanga Māori and Māori values
  • An excellent understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Is a positive team member and able to work independently
  • Is enthusiastic, motivated and willing to learn new systems
  • A thorough understanding of social and cultural issues, and the impacts of the social determinants of health on the wellbeing of whānau, families and individuals.
  • An ability to network and work with other providers in the health and social service sectors in Te Tauihu.
  • An excellent working knowledge of general management practices.
  • Innovative, flexible and imaginative
  • A well-developed ability to listen intelligently and empathetically, to get on well with others, and interact effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.
  • A full commitment to whānau and organisational confidentiality.
  • An ability to exercise prudent self-care and ensure staff exercise the same.
