Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua regrets to announce that it will withdraw from the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme at the end of 2025.
Pouwhakahaere (CEO) Shane Graham explained that the new funding settings per meal are unsustainable at this time.
“We know tamariki and rangatahi learn best when they are well-fed and focused. In 2025, our programme grew to deliver 1,200 meals a day to schoolchildren across Wairau and Whakatū,” he said.
“Our vision has always been to provide fresh, locally grown kai, prepared with care by local people, for kura throughout our rohe.
“Sadly, we cannot continue to deliver this service under the new contract rates.
“Several staff members are affected by this change, and we are committed to supporting them during this transition time.”
We want to acknowledge and thank all suppliers and partners in the programme especially our kura:
- Victory Primary School
- Auckland Point School
- Maitai School
- Te Kura Kaupapa Tuia Te Matangi
- Spring Creek School
- Mayfield School
- Whitney Street School
- Redwoodtown School
“Hei whakamutunga, ki a maatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki, kua whakapau kaha maatou ki te mahi i te mea pai mo koutou, aa, e wawata ana maatou kia tau te rongo pai ki a koutou katoa.”
