Kitchen upgrade well underway at Hauhunga
Work is well underway on the first stage of the Hauhunga Marae development.
The overall goal of the building poject is to build on the legacy of the past and provide better equipped and more resilient marae for the future.
The concrete has been poured for the kitchen floor and framing is going up.
An additional outdoor covered area is proposed to provide more work space and separation from the main kitchen area.
Upgraded appliances for the kitchen will provide greater capacity to cater for events. Water storage has been upgraded and solar panels have been added through a separate kaupapa.
The best news is that the project is tracking slightly ahead of schedule and is due for completion on time.
The second stage of the development is work on a wharenui. We have gained consent and funding is being organised.
