Te Tai Tonga - Meet the candidates

Te Āwhina Marae invites whānau and our wider hapori to join us for a Meet the Candidates evening for Te Tai Tonga on Wednesday 7 October 2026.

• Pōwhiri: 5.00pm
• Kai: 5.30pm
• Meet the Candidates: 6.00pm-7.30pm

This is an opportunity to meet the candidates seeking to represent Te Tai Tonga, hear about their aspirations and priorities for the electorate, and ask pātai about the issues that matter to you, your whānau and our communities.

Following pōwhiri and kai, each candidate will have time to introduce themselves, explain why they are standing and outline their priorities for Te Tai Tonga. This will be followed by facilitated kaupapa questions and pātai  from whānau.

Te Āwhina Marae is hosting this as a non-partisan community hui. All candidates standing for Te Tai Tonga have been invited to participate on the same basis.

The aim is simple - to provide an opportunity for whānau to hear directly from the candidates, ask questions and be informed about the choices before us.
