Kua hoki mai ō tātou kākā! ✨🦜
What an incredible afternoon we had on Tuesday at Brook Waimārama Sanctuary in Whakatū!
We were blessed to be part of a special tuku taonga - welcoming home three young kākā to our rohe (from Nelson Lakes). Led by Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō and supported by iwi of Te Tauihu, it was one of those moments that just fills your heart right up.
The kākā will be nurtured in the aviary before being released into the sanctuary — returning to the ngāhere.
And whānau — kia hiwa rā for this one!
There will be a chance for whānau to come and visit the kākā up close (dates TBC) — what an incredible way for our little ones to connect with these precious taonga!
Ko ngā kākā he taonga — mō tātou, mō ā tātou mokopuna, āke ake! 🦜
