Pūrongo-ā-Tau: A quick look ahead of Hui-ā-Tau

E ngā uri o Ngāti Rārua, tēnā koutou katoa.

Nau mai haere mai ki tā tātou Hui-ā-Tau.

Our AGM is coming up on Saturday 15 November, and  we wanted to give you a quick look at our Pūrongo-ā-Tau – our annual report -  before the event.

The report satisfies a number reporting requirements. More importantly, it reflects how each pou continues to deliver on our commitment to Kia Pai Te Noho – our shared strategy for wellbeing, cultural strength and collective prosperity.

Pou Mauri Ora has supported our culture and identity, our Rāruatanga, through events, wānanga and tautoko marae as well as standing a kapa in Taiopenga in Wairau – the first iwi to do so.

Pou Taiao has continued with proactive kaitiakitanga, adopting our climate strategy and ongoing collaboration with a range of agencies and organisations.

Pou Hononga delivered thousands of school lunches through the Ka Ora Ka Ako programme, supported whānau with grants and sponsorship, and has continued our involvement with the redevelopment of Nelson Hospital.

Pou Ohaoha is investing for resilience and returns – supporting participation in Whānausaver and Te Uru Ahupūtea financial education. Te Urunga Kainga has supported three whānau into home ownership or rentals.

Te Whare Rangahau o Tokomaru focused on evidence, archives and readiness. As well as an archival unit for digitising our records, and research to help support our communications and emergency preparedness, we celebrated the resilience and success of Ngāti Rārua with Te Heke Whakangā - an exhibition that drew more than 7000 visitors in Wairau.

Te Hauora o Ngāti Rārua continued to deliver stable and trusted services across Te Tauihu.

We’ve also included Haukainga highlights in the report for the first time, sharing updates from each of our marae.

Whānau, this is our our mahi-a-iwi.

You can read more in the full annual report, available on our website. And we hope to see you all at the Hui-ā-Tau at 10am  Saturday 15 November at the Lansdowne Hub in Blenheim. For those who travel to the event, a subsidy form will be available on the day.

Kia atawhaitia i te tangata i muri i a ahau, kia pai te noho.
