Te Kotahi expands driver licensing services

In June, Te Kotahi Charitable Trust took over delivery of AA Driver Licensing and Identity services in Richmond, moving the service into Richmond Mall. The transition has gone smoothly, experienced staff have joined the Te Kotahi whānau, opening hours have been extended, and importantly, the Richmond community has continued to access these services locally.

Now they are building on that partnership to deliver AA services in Motueka and Mohua, helping ensure these services remain available locally as Tasman District Council steps away from providing them.

For Te Kotahi, taking on these services fits naturally with the driver licensing mahi we’ve already been doing across Te Tauihu.

Keeping these services close to home matters. For many people, particularly those already facing barriers to getting licensed, having to travel to another town or across the region to complete a licensing transaction can make the process harder.

The service will look a little different in each community. What connects them is simple: making sure people can continue to access an important service within their own communities.

Motueka

From Wednesday 2 September, Te Kotahi will deliver AA Driver Licensing and Identity services from the Motueka i-SITE, 20 Wallace St. The service will be available every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 5pm, excluding public holidays.

The last day for AA services at the Tasman District Council Service Centre in Hickmott Place will be Thursday 27 August.

Tākaka

In Tākaka, Te Kotahi will deliver a mobile AA Driver Licensing and Identity service twice each month from the Golden Bay Workcentre Trust, 84 Commercial St. The confirmed mobile dates for the remainder of 2026 are:

• 7–8 September
• 19–20 October
• 9–10 November
• 14–15 December

The Tākaka service will operate from 8.30am to 3.30pm on those dates, with the 2027 schedule currently being finalised.
