Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Te Pitomata Grants support Māori student success and completion across various health career programmes. Applications close: midday 1 April 2026.

Categories
Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Te Pitomata Grants support Māori student success and completion across various health career programmes.
Eligible students must meet the Guideline criteria (external link) and be currently enrolled in a relevant programme of study. The four categories supported are:
Undergraduate
- You are studying full-time.
- Enrolled at an approved tertiary provider in New Zealand.
- Enrolled in a related course at NZQA Level 7 and above. The subcategories are nursing, midwifery, and all qualifications within Allied Health, Scientific & Technical (AHS&T). (external link)
Medical and Dentistry
- Enrolled in a related course at NZQA Level 7 and above.
- Studying full-time.
- Enrolled at an approved tertiary provider in New Zealand.
Rongoā Māori
- Training and learning alongside a rongoā Māori practitioner (tohunga) for a minimum of 100 hours.
- Currently studying Rongoā Māori at an approved tertiary provider in New Zealand.
- Have endorsement from a rongoā Māori practitioner/mentor supporting your application and verifying your training under them (contact information must be provided).
Postgraduate Clinical
- Enrolled in a related course at NZQA Level 7 and above in a postgraduate program. The subcategories include, but are not limited to: Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Prescribers and Clinical Psychology.
- Studying and/or working in the health sector.
- Enrolled at an approved tertiary provider in New Zealand. Enrolled in a related course at NZQA Level 7 and above in a postgraduate program.
- Your programme of study must be a patient-facing clinical pathway.
