Whakatuwhera o Te Heke Whakangā ki Mohua
The exhibition runs to the end of July.
Ngāti Rārua whānau whānui from across Te Tauihu gathered with Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Tama, manawhenua ki Mohua and the local community to open Te Heke Whakangā ki Mohua on Friday.
Te Heke Whakangā honours our tupuna, acknowledging their tireless efforts to advocate to protect our lands and people, and reminding us of our shared history.
The exhibition features fascinating kōrero, stunning photographs, and displays. A poignant feature is the late Tui Martin sharing the story of the development of Onetahua Marae through digitised archival footage – reminding us again of the vision and dedication of our tupuna. We encourage you all to visit and learn about our hekengā, our purakau, and our people.
We thank all the whānau who provided their expertise to make this exhibition possible.
