This cadetship role is established under the Te Aka Pūkenga programme. The purpose of the programme is to create a skills and experience pathway that will, in time assist ngā iwi o Te Tauihu and Te Tauihu Councils to address future capacity constraints.
In this role, you will be provided with opportunities and experiences that help grow your knowledge and expertise across varied Council and Iwi spaces. This will include spending time across different departments within Council, gaining experience in multiple disciplines as well as time within Iwi offices when achievable.
Your main responsibilities in this role will include:
- Developing knowledge, relationships, networks and skills in alignment with all iwi and Councils in Te Tauihu.
- Participate in and support processes, including statutory processes and ngā iwi o Te Tauihu / Te Tauihu Councils engagement approaches.
- Assisting Te Kāhui Aka Tokai Māori Relationships daily operational activities and special projects.
This position is fixed term until 30 June 2027.
