Ngāti Rārua representatives accompanied Ngāti Tama and Te Atiawa for a blessing at Te Kura o Aorere (Collingwood Area School) at dawn, along with students and teachers and the wider school community.

I tū te wānanga whakamutunga o Kia Pai Te Reo ki Te Rotoiti. We finished off our series of Kia Pai Te Reo wānanga in Rotoiti at the weekend. We look forward to sharing more opportunities to use and learn Reo Rārua in 2024.

Pūtōrino project wins Te Ao Māori Scitec Expo award
Nayland College Year 9 Student Orion Masters has won this year’s Te Āo Māori award at the Scitec expo. His project, Ngā te wā o Paoro i Mua, examined if 3D printing could make a bugle flute that would produce a comparable sound to a traditionally made pūtōrino.

Te Hauora O Ngāti Rārua Mānawatia a Matariki
A wonderful celebration of Matariki filled the offices of Te Hauora o Ngati Rārua in Blenheim with people, fun and laughter on July 13. Approximately 150 people visited and enjoyed manaakitanga, kai and plenty of festivities. Congratulations to everyone involved for a wonderful event.

Thanks to everyone who attended Te Umu Kohukohu Whetū ki Wairau yesterday morning. As Matariki rose, our kaikarakia and kaikaranga helped us restore mauri to the land, remember those who have passed, and look forward to the year ahead. Matariki kāinga hokia!
